Glamour, bitches!

A few months ago during a She & Her Vintage drinking brainstorming session, Linds and I decided it would be an excellent 30th birthday celebration to do glamour shots. Like, old-school, awkwardly amazing glamour shots.

We found a great GroupOn deal for a package that allowed us hair and makeup services, plus three outfit changes for $29.  Um, yes??

Scheduling was a bit difficult with Lindsay living in Charlotte, plus the great ice storms of 2015 here in Atlanta, but we finally got it worked out for the day after Lindsay's 30th.

Apparently, NO ONE EVER ASKS FOR IRONIC GLAMOUR SHOTS!  (I know.  We were astonished, as well)  So, the hair and makeup team were super excited to give us the over-the-top 80s look we wanted.

And our photographer?  She was totally on-board for our shenanigans.  I mean, we had our own ideas for awkward poses and backgrounds, but she helped us nail some incredible shots.

We had such a blast.  Once we were done and had exhausted all of our awesomeness, we treated ourselves to tall boys at Walmart.  Because we are effing classy.

St. Patrick's Day Vintage OOTD

I work in a wine shop part time, and I understand that wine is not the beverage of choice for St. Paddy's day, but I wanted to look festive-- and avoid pinches from creepy dudes-- so I borrowed this adorable vintage 1960's Jackie-O'-style green shift dress. I love the pearly accent at the sleeve and neck-- there's no need for a necklace!

Dreaming of spring

I'm a sissy when it comes to cold weather. Really, I am. The ONLY good part about the cold, in my opinion, is that you can break out the vintage coats and vintage furs. I was born in Sarasota, FL, moved at 13 to Atlanta and again at 29 to Charlotte. I'm just not made for this cold weather stuff, and lately that's all I've seen. Cold and dreary. Ugh. While bundling up and layering to the point that I look like the Michelin man, I've been dreaming of springtime and the beautiful colors and floral prints that accompany it. During New York Fashion Week 2014 I saw a ton of beautiful, vintage-esque-print-skirts with sky-high, strappy sandals. It may only be January, but right now I'm dreaming of the warmer days where I can rock a beautiful vintage skirt with some sex kitten heels!

Vintage OOTD

How's this for a vintage outfit of the day that looks totally modern? I purchased this gorgeous 1950s beaded cardigan at Salvage Atlanta from Ivory of Forgotten Feather Vintage, and I absolutely love it. I adore '50s things, but sometimes they can look a bit costume-y if you're not careful. This is especially true of beaded or more formal pieces, but I want to wear this sweater EVERY. DAMN. DAY.  so I have to really dress it down. Today I paired my beaded vintage cardigan with dark brown corduroy cutoff shorts, a grey T-shirt, my fav brown boots (I'm convinced the only good thing about this cool weather is that I get to rock BOOTS!) and black and grey polka dot socks. Because why the hell not?! I kinda love this outfit. I might even wear it tomorrow! ;)
