On this unseasonably cold day in late March, I found myself scrambling back to my winter wardrobe to create this layered, more fall-inspired look.
Something about this outfit screams New York/Paris to me. I felt so darned fancy, even with no place special to go. Fortunately, after being such a good sport and taking these photos, my hubs decided we should go on an impromptu sushi date (our sushi chef even complimented my ensemble, haha!).
While the clothing elements in this outfit are modern, I wanted to accessorize with vintage pieces. I do love a good balance of modern and vintage to keep looks updated and fresh. The hat is by Alfreda, circa 1950s. I bought it over the weekend at a vintage liquidation sale (where I scored oodles of beautiful new pieces for the shop), and I decided to take it out for a whirl today. It's quite a large-brimmed hat, so it kind of caught my boss by surprise when I showed up to work wearing it. But that's what I love about statement pieces - they command attention!
I also opted for this sweet little vintage Liz Claiborne purse, which is part of Lindsay's collection (thanks, girl, haha!). I love its shape and the clasp detail. It mirrored the European-chic look I wanted to achieve. Isn't it lovely?
